Virtues

Player Status

Let's first have a look at the sample player status page (data from an older game of course), (1) being Title, (2) Grace, (3) Honor and (4) Popularity.

The player title represents the player overall power. This information is known from other players through army scouting or counsellor advice.

Title scale has the following values, by ascending power

Briac Allegiance Khorg Allegiance
Penintent Shadow
Monk Specter
Cleric Evil Mage
Priest Dark Sorcerer
High Priest Night Warlock
Dream Master Necromancer
Dream Lord High Necromancer
Saint Vampire
Angel Lich
High Angel Lich Lord
ArchAngel ArchLich
Demi-God of Law Demi-God of Evil

The Grace value evaluates how well your God considers your actions on its behalf. Grace is extremely important, because magic on Akeran is strongly influenced by the Gods, and if your God does not like you, you might find it very difficult to cast any spell. People in Akeran being fairly devout, Gods also influence your population, so bad Grace often means a decreasing popularity.

The Honor value tells how the other lords of Akeran consider you. If you are known to be dishonourable, your troops will be less efficient in combat and may even desert. Low honor also has a bad influence on popularity since it encourage people in your towns to claim you not to be a worthy ruler and contest your authority.

Last but not least, Popularity informs about what your people think of you. There is one popularity value per city you own. Popularity regulates the growth of your cities, but a bad popularity also means bad news for your production and goods, or even riots that might damage some buildings. And be aware that people hate high taxes.

Virtues evolution

Akeran's battlegroung is not a free for all contest. The Gods on Akeran are fierce and lawful gods. There is no place for cowards or devious actions in their views. Let's just say your God encourage you to attack players with more power than you, best if they are of the opposite allegiance. Anyway, follow with great care your counsellor, so that you don't endure the wrath of your God.

If you defend your cities well, if you fight fair, declaring war before attacking, if you have a good and experienced army, your peers will respect you more.

Popularity is a more fluctuating value. People tend to listen to rumours and gossips, and are easily turned against you. They are sensitive to your Grace and Honour, to the taxes, but also to the opinion of other towns of yours, to the founding of a new place, to the signing of peace treaties or your warlike attitude, and so on. Cities you take who liked their former lord will often distrust you, at least at first. Being attacked, and/or not well enough protected is also pretty bad for your popularity, strangely enough people do not like it. Of course, there is more to this than what's been said above, but you'll soon get used to it. Just remember: People are not always easy to fool.
